biography
born into two steppe tribes, but raised by a duskwight. ain't that something?
katsu was initially born into the borlaaq tribe, but being born male meant that he was given up to the iriq. he stayed with the iriq until he was just a little under six years old when he watched his birth father leave the steppe for a round of business that he desperately wanted to meddle in. katsu smuggled himself away in a barrel of onions, which he ate all of, through a long journey to vylbrand where his story truly began.neglected by his father, katsu became a limsa street rat who knew not a single bit of the common language and was determined to keep it that way until he'd learned to trust a rather shady duskwight named henri nillefrant who katsu now and will forever refer to as his father.
henri taught katsu the tricks of the trade when it came to pick-pocketing, scams, and investing. it wasn't long before katsu became a rather charming and cunning little force to be reckoned with. during this time, katsu was exposed to a variety of cultures including gelmorran, ishgardian, and hingan. henri made a point to also keep katsu engaged with what bits of xaela culture he could get his hands on as he raised him.at age sixteen was when katsu began to involve himself in hingan company with someone that he'd soon know as big brother yasa who is a rather eccentric, but crafty miqo'te who taught katsu the ways of hingan business and brotherhood. for the next two years, katsu found himself bruised and humbled, but ready to utilize the tools and skills taught to him and founded yoasobi-kai. yoasobi-kai is an investment group that seeks to protect its family and communities served. they do give out loans, but one is expected to pay them back be it coin or manual labor.this rise to success was not without its sudden dips. when one is young, it is the time to make mistakes, but this one would stick with katsu for the rest of his life. one large act of greed in the hopes to gain respect earned him nearly a decade drenched him in cold sweats and blood. a permanent shadow feasted on every bit of energy it could while katsu was slowly rotting from the inside. it was due to the diligent work of a company's alchemist and doctor that he was able to remove this sludge-like darkness from his body and begin his life again. the after effects of one selfish choice have left great tears in katsu's mind that have him misremembering or forgetting entire chapters of his life which one will find him making light of in casual conversation. he's not proud of the things he'd done during those darker years and he isn't going to brag about them. had it not been for the connections, friends, and family he had then he'd already be executed most likely.however, during those darker times there were periods of happiness and success as katsu managed to secure and help dozens of people in multiple communities through endless hours of networking, traveling, and negotiating. he presently invests in family owned business such as farms, crafters, and similarly aligned businesses. he even owns his own which produces kujaku brand cigars and cigarettes. katsu is also set to take over the shrouded kalongs which was founded and is presently led by his father henri nillefrant. katsu is a busy man, but not so busy that he hasn't made his share of friends who have become more his family than his own family could've ever been.recent developments: katsu has just eloped with his now-husband zamis martakh (formerly dhoro). they plan to still have a public ceremony and plan to visit the steppe for a lengthy period of time to reset from a heavy event in their lives.

enhanced hearing
katsu has above average hearing, but nothing like a viera or miqo'te might. those horns do their job at listening for anything that might be alarming.
limbal rings
katsu's limbal rings can vary in brightness depending on his mood. if he's near blissful then they are quite bright and stand out even in daylight. if he's bordering exhausted, then they will seem a bit dim and blend into his iris.
slit pupils
katsu has slit pupils that sharpen into tight diamonds and dilate into large circles.
scale shed
katsu does shed along where scales grow on his body and on his tail. he has scale care to help this process along and not stay itchy! so unpleasant when shedding time happens! his scales look immaculate! they are also not quite jagged and smoothed along the contours of his body.
not-so-normal horns
katsu has feminine-sized horns, but masculine in shape. he also has red tips on the ends of his horns much like a birthmark.
behaviors
an extra hand
while katsu's tail isn't very long, it is extremely useful with years of practice. he's able to pick up and hold light weight objects. in recent days he's tried to get a good hold on one of his blades.
must be happy
katsu's tail is extremely expressive which means that it wags when he's happy. the scales raise and it becomes a little more jagged and stiff when he's upset.
tail drop
katsu can drop his tail if he absolutely needs to. it will grow back unless it is severely damaged where it connects to his actual body. his tail isn't heavy enough to hinder him walking about, but it is a little disorienting.
fidgets
katsu has to always keep his hands busy. he always has a puzzle, notebook, or something to pre-occupy him. he's very good with tricks with strings and coins.

family by blood
katsu contributed to the death of his abusive biological father in the last year or so. he is estranged with his mother and three older sisters who live in the steppe and hasn't seen them in well over a decade. the only family members he still remembers and loves are his aunt and uncle on his mother's side who raised him until he left the steppe.
custard
katsu has a horse named custard in the steppe. he hasn't seen custard since she was a foal. he has a deep love for horses. eventually he'd like to see her again.
biker boy
katsu has/had a custom built motorcycle. he's in the market for a new one. he's not fond of chocobo so his preferred methods of transportation are his bike, airships, & horses.
poppy
katsu has a shiba inu dog named poppy. she's not overly friendly, but can warm up fast. she does shriek a lot. that's your only warning. she only follows ishgardian and xaelic commands from katsu, his husband, or his father. she is not easily swayed.
prankster
katsu loves pulling pranks on people that range from shaved heads, chili oil on toilet paper, or letting loose dodos into the unsuspective public. he might've stink bombed more than a fair share of people. he's rarely sorry for it.

type-1 diabetic
an autoimmune disease where the body attacks and destroys the insulin-producing cells in the pancreas.
katsu has to eat & drink regularly which might not sound like a huge deal, but being deprived of food can result in fainting or seizures. he also has to be mindful of what he eats.
dual blade trainee
a person who is still learning to wield dualblades.
katsu is still learning how to use his dual blades. while he is making decent progress, he still has a lot to learn. practice makes perfect.
complacent
showing smug or uncritical satisfaction with oneself or one's achievements.
katsu has an air about him where he isn't very fearful (seemingly) in his day-to-day life. people should know not to cross him, so what does he have to worry about?
impulsive
a person who tends to act on a sudden whim without first thinking through the consequences of their actions
depending on the situation, katsu tends to throw himself into things especially if it's too his benefit. to hell with the consequences, just do the thing!
extra
katsu's fighting style relies heavily on tools such as elemental aether-bombs that can do a number of things, just depending on what element of crystal sand is inside. they are glass spheres that he can slam on a surface to active.
wind crystals can be used to give himself a boost in height or accelerate speed. the more sand, the bigger the effect.he's becoming fairly well known for his finesse in midair with the aid of maneuver gear that helps blast him through the air while mantaining complete use of his blades. it's a light weight device that runs on wind crystal clusters broken down into potent sand. this is a finite source that does need to be refilled after a time of active use.katsu usually keeps a miniature crossbow on his back if he's toting around his blades. the bow has a place it can slide into and secure itself between the sheaths of his blades on his back.
katsu's crossbow has elemental charged bolts that can do devestating damage to his targets.
for example: a levin bolt acts much like a taser, but with far more pain than one might think.katsu is still actively learning hand-to-hand with the help of his far more experienced husband, but...it's not his favorite way to fight.
